This Privacy Policy explains what information is collected when you visit this website, how it is used, and the choices available to you. This website is a personal journal operated by Robert Whitaker ("we," "us," or "our").
Information we collect
Information you send by email. This website does not have a server-side contact form. The contact page helps you write an email in your own email application, addressed to robert.whitaker74@outlook.com. If you send an email, we receive whatever you choose to include — typically your name, email address, and message. Email is delivered and stored by our email provider, Microsoft Outlook.
Server logs. Like most websites, our hosting provider automatically records basic technical information when pages are requested, such as IP address, browser type, the page requested, the referring page, and the date and time. These logs are used for security, troubleshooting, and keeping the site running, and are retained according to the hosting provider's standard practices.
Fonts. Web fonts are loaded from Google Fonts. When your browser requests these fonts, Google receives your IP address and browser information. See Google's privacy policy for details on how it handles this information.
What we do not collect
- We do not use analytics or advertising trackers.
- We do not set cookies for tracking or advertising.
- We do not sell, rent, or trade personal information.
- We do not ask for, and you should never send, account numbers, passwords, Social Security numbers, or other sensitive financial information.
How we use information
Information you send by email is used only to read and, where appropriate, reply to your message. Server logs are used to operate and secure the website.
Sharing links
Article pages include share links to third-party services such as X, LinkedIn, and Facebook. No information is sent to those services unless you click a link, at which point their own privacy policies apply.
Retention
Emails are kept only as long as reasonably needed to respond and for ordinary record-keeping, and may be deleted at any time on request.
Your choices and rights
You may ask us to access, correct, or delete correspondence you have sent by writing to robert.whitaker74@outlook.com. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under applicable privacy laws.
Children's privacy
This website is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Newsletter
This website does not currently offer an email newsletter. If one is added in the future, this policy will be updated to describe the service provider, consent, and unsubscribe options before sign-up is made available.
